MARINA DEL SUR

28.00696300 -16.66111000

Right in the heart of the town, Las Galletas, Marina del Sur suddenly becomes a great location to set off on your next adventure. It's only a few hours away from San Sebastian de La Gomera and other points in the western part of the Canary Islands, such as Puerto Mogan, the closest marina in Gran Canary. The marina is also home to one of the main yachting events on the island of Tenerife, FENAUTICA, where every year it gathers much attention with its unique activities and expos. The marina is very close to the most southern part of Tenerife, where you can find areas such as Los Cristianos, Puerto Colon, and even Los Gigantes for a more relaxed sailing experience, especially during calm and sunny weather. Being inside the town offers the visitors of Las Galletas incredible access to the restaurants nearby, especially along the short sea strip, where all the restaurants and local cafeterias are located. The main access to the marina is controlled by "on call" marina employees who monitor all who go in, and key cards are provided to your specific finger. Parking is available though limited, however, you can find ample parking outside, in the town`s streets.

During our vacation in January and February in Canary Islands we stopped in Marina del Sur. Marina was very nice, it is inside the town of Las Galletas. You can enjoy good food, inside marina, but we liked more a restaurant outside, where you can see the beach in front from table. The pantoons are closed with electronic key, this is good for safety reasons. You can walk in marina, we were told people visiting Las Galletas like to walk around marina. It is nice. We did not like that marina is locked at entrance, if you have a rental car, it can take a long time for marineros to come and open the gate. This is bad especially if you have to bring supplies to yacht. We had to find parking in town, close to marina. The marina is very good if you are planning on sailing to Gran Canary and La Gomera. If bad weather comes you can always sail in south of Tenerife, great for whale watching.
